Deirdre Chase enjoyed studying painting at Concordia University in the great city of Montreal. She has been a practicing artist for over 20 years.
She is equally fascinated by Portrait and Landscape painting. But, really, she loves manipulating paint, creating layers and a sense of history or pentimento. Oil paint is layered on with squeegees, brushes, and fingers to create translucent and opaque layers. Recently, her landscape paintings have explored the presence of light and energy in the landscape.
Currently, she is working on a portrait series of artists and environmentalists who have passionately celebrated and defended our landscapes and our planet, They include Tom Thomson, Greta Thunberg, David Suzuki, Petra Kelly and Emily Carr among others.
